Sometimes the people featured are interesting or strange or completely oblivious to how dating should work, but Patti’s still the one stealing scenes. That’s dating show material, so I’m filing it as an honorable mention. It’s essentially rapid-fire speed dating in the cheesiest way possible. Suitors are dwindled by the contestant naming qualities that are non-negotiables , because how deep can you get in a half-hour of airtime, right?
The first season shows the contestants at their most trusting, before the show started streaming and the game play became more calculated. Season 1 on Netflix is season 5 in the UK world, but really, with this show, you can start wherever. A personal favorite is the third “collection” (a fancy way of saying “season”) on Netflix. Season six is a personal favorite of mine—it was the first time they didn’t film in a tropical setting—but any season is a good place to start.
From “The Challenge” will get the chance to date seven people who look like their celebrity crushes. There’s a conversation that Demi and I have that goes really, really deep. I really hope it makes it to air because you’ll understand why we act the way we act. I’ve never seen something like that on any of the Ex on the Beaches that have come before.
